Canada Day

July 1st at Zama Park. What a day! We started off with a parade through town that wound up at the park. Then all sorts of activities began. There were burgers and hot dogs all day long cooked by Chris Kilosky of Mackenzie County...our local water plant operator. Later in the day we had deep fried turkey on a bun cooked and donated by Kevin Cole of Canadian Pressure Testing. There were kids games where prizes and ribbons were won and a bouncy tent to keep them occuppied as well. Then we had a horseshoe tournament, a hole in one contest which was held at the school yard, a fishing derby for kids and adults, a dunk tank which was a big attraction this year and finally a dance in our new shelter with The Garrett Patmore Band playing. We were also treated to a couple of Johnny Cash renditions performed by six year old Bryce Muzichuk who had his audience cheering and clapping. Even the RCMP turned out for our parade...though she was a little late as she had to make an arrest just before getting here. Prizes and awards were handed out to all the winners of the events.
A big thanks to Greg McGiver for organizing one of our best Canada Days yet and to all the others who donated their time.
